Woody Dame
Inducted 2012
Woody Dame is an essential part of the growth of trials in America. In the beginning of national events, following the formation of the NATC, Woody operated The Tryals Shop, the first of its kind in the country that specialized in trials. The shop supplied trials accessories and parts and a number of brands of bikes.
With the growth of the sport as it is today, it is difficult to imagine now how important that specialty shop was. It was started in 1975, the first year that a round of a world championship round was held in the US. The shop is still open and owned by Mike Komer who also played an important part of early trials both as the shop owner and a member of the Trials de Nations support team. The distinguished history of this shop, beginning with the foresight of Woody Dame, is an integral of the growth of trials in America.
