The AMA Board of Directors welcomed three new members during its January meeting.

In voting by AMA members in their areas, Brad Baumert won the board seat representing the Southeast Region, and Dr. Faisel Zaman won the South Central Region election.
Chris Cox, a division director in the powersports business unit at American Honda Motor Company, was appointed to a vacant board seat that is designated for business members.
Board members Mark Hosbach and Robert Pearce retained their seats on the board, running unopposed in the election.

Baumert defeated Jeff Oakley of Spartanburg, S.C., to represent AMA members living in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Puerto Rico.

Baumert is an AMA Life Member who brings to the Board more than 40 years of executive management and leadership in the private sector. He also has been riding trials and trails bikes for more than half a century, and received a Friend of the AMA award in 2016.
He currently serves as treasurer of Saddleback East Inc. and Trials Inc.

Zaman defeated John A. Sires of Kyle, Texas, to represent AMA members from Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, southern Illinois and Mississippi.

Zaman is a doctor who has been a rider and motorcycling advocate for more than 30 years. He joined the AMA in 2001.
Zaman owned three medical businesses. He is part owner of a cybersecurity startup, a real estate business and JCDC LLC, which owns 70 acres next to the Utah Motorsports Campus. He is a parttime employee at the Abilene Diagnostic Clinic.
“Championing motorcyclist rights is something I’ve always been passionate about,” he said.
The AMA Board of Directors includes 12 members—six elected by individual members, four elected by business members, and two at-large members appointed and ratified at the annual individual member meeting.
